Ford Launches Ford Focus 2012 in Nigeria: Starts Focus Relay Challenge

Ready, set, Focus!  Ford Motor Company has kicked off the Nigerian launch of its all-new 2012 Focus by kicking off the “Focus Relay Challenge (Nigeria)” – a first-of-its kind designed to engage Nigerians with the launch of Ford’s new global car.

The Ford Focus Relay Challenge is the biggest event to hit the streets of Lagos this year. Four teams of three - driver, co-driver and a DJ celebrity (including IK, TOOLZ, MANNIE and TOSIN BUCKNOR) - will zip around the city proving their superior driving skills and conquering some unusual challenges along the way. The stakes are big. Members of the winning team each receive a new Focus.

Thousands of applicants registered at www. facebook.com/FordNigeria by submitting essays and pictures, from which 8 finalists were selected to take part in the challenge out of thirty two hopefuls were shortlisted and interviewed.

Meet your eight finalists with their team leaders.

RED TEAM – (Tosyn Bucknor – Top Radio)

Isioma loves speed, fast cars, fast power bikes, racing video games, and fast walking. She is an executive at mediaReach OMD.
Munachiso is a banker who describes himself as a spunky, adventurous risk taker who loves meeting new people.

 GREEN TEAM (I.K – Rhythm FM)

Ayodeji (Deji) is a Business Developer who lives in Festac Town Lagos. He’s a logical guy who enjoys solving puzzles.
Adefemi (Triple A) loves interacting with all people, learning, movies and singing.

YELLOW TEAM (Mannie – Cool FM)

MPI Elizabeth is a geography graduate of the University of Ibadan and a school proprietress. A resident of Akoka-Yaba, she enjoys reading, traveling and networking.
Tunji enjoys traveling, social media, swimming, skateboarding, and partying. He is a true car buff and aspires to own a sexy Ford GT.

WHITE TEAM (Toolz – Beat FM)

Anabara is a man of many skills, having worked in oil and gas, banking, administration, theatre and now logistics.
Babatola is a mechanical engineer. He is single and loves adventure.

Nigerian Taxi Driver Killed

Moses Ayanwole (41), a Nigerian driver,married with a child and based in Hartstown, west Dublin, Republic of Ireland, has died after being attacked in his taxi by a passenger at about 12.30am on MondayNov 21.

He was punched in the head, and he fell heavily on to the ground as his taxi was parked on Pearse Street near Erne Street junction. After the attack, he fell into a coma and died yesterday at St. James’s Hospital in Dublin after suffering serious head injuries.
It is believed that a large group of people flagged down the taxi, but the victim told them he could not take them all. There was a brief discussion and the group got out of the car and flagged down another taxi. But one man stayed behind and exchanged words with the taxi driver. As he was leaving, Mr. Ayanwole was punched and fell.
His attacker, a 20 something yr old, was initially arrested and released without charge, but with Ayanwole's death, police are planning to re-arrest him on manslaughter charges. A post-mortem will be carried out to pinpoint the exact cause of death.

Scottish Businessman And His American Wife Murdered

A Scottish businessman and his American wife were gunned down in the street in a suspected honour killing while on holiday in Pakistan. 
Glasgow-based Saif Rehman, 31, and Uzma Naurin from New York, 30, were shot dead when their car was ambushed in the north-eastern city of Gujrat following a shopping trip. 
The couple had been about to start a new life together in the U.S. after their trip to Pakistan for Mr Rehman's brother's wedding. 
It is understood the couple were accompanied by a driver, Mr Rehman's sister and her two-year-old daughter, but the other passengers were unharmed. 


Sources close to the dispute last night suggested Mr Rehman's relatives had been happy with the marriage, but ithad caused upset among some of his bride's relatives. 

Saif Ali, 30, of Cumbernauld, Dunbartonshire, who runs a mobile phone repair company, met Mr Rehman – who ran a similar firm called GSM Communications in Glasgow – three years ago. 

He said: 'It was a long-distance relationship between Saif and Uzma but they made it work really well. Saif had just got a visa to go to the U.S., so they were on the brink of a new life together when this happened. 

Describing their murder, Mr Ali added: 'They were going back home and basically, all of a sudden, their driver just stopped the car. 

'Four people were in a different car which stopped in front of them.  They pulled Saif, his sister, her daughter and his wife out of the car and, as soon as he was pulled out of the car, they shot him without saying anything.' 

Mr Ali said that 'no words were exchanged' between Mr Rehman and any of the people who shot him. 

He added: 'Five minutes up the road they basically killed her (Uzma Naurin) as well. She wasn't found until quite a bit of time later. 

'Probably about three or four hours later, she was found, as they had basically put her in the shrubs somewhere, just on the side of the road

Chris Brown has snatched up a mansion in the Hollywood Hills for  $1.5 million.Brown's new home is eight miles from Rihanna's front door but she recently put her eight-bedroom Beverly Crest home on the market.

Brown had been on the search for a new location since the spring, when residents in his West Hollywood community complained about his loud lifestyle
