Some parts of Dangote Sugar factory in Apapa were Sunday night destroyed by fire.
The fire, lasted for more than four hours between 7pm and 11pm.
The firm is one of the largest sugar producing companies in Africa that supplies sugar to some African countries like Ghana, Borkina- Faso and Cameron.
An official of the company attributed the incident to electrical fault and said it was immediately put off.
But a statement from the company said the fire lasted for about 30 minutes before it could be contained by the combined efforts of the company, Nigerian Ports
Authority, Lagos State and Federal Fire Service.
Production has been suspended and would resume within the week.
There were no casualties or any loss of life in the incident and investigations have begun to ascertain the cause of the fire and extent of damage to the affected area.
