The Governor of Lagos state, Babatunde Fashola has demolished some waterfront homes in Makoko area of Lagos. The state government demolition squad destroyed several homes claiming that it already gave a quit notice to resident on July 12 2012 to vacate and remove all illegal developments along the Makoko/Iwaya Waterfront within 72 hours.”
The Makoko/Iwaya waterfront community is home to more than 30,000 urban poor families in Lagos.
