The entire community of Koso, in Iseyin Local Government Area of Oyo State, was in shock on Monday when the news filtered in that a mad man had hung himself. The shock and surprise arose because many of them could not fathom why a young boy of 23 years would hang himself. But Sadly, the people of Iseyin woke up to behold the body of Akande Waliyu, dangling from a mango tree.
Waliu, was said to be suffering from mental disorder which led to his being brought to Ologede compound, Iseyin for herbal medical care, before the incident occured.it was learnt that members of his family had taken him to several places in search of cure for him but unfortunately, their efforts yielded no fruit. So, in an attempt to find cure for the mental illness which he was afflicted with, his family decided to seek herbal cure for him at Ologede compound. Waliu had been responding positively to treatment at Iseyin when he decided to abscond from the herbalist’s home, and only to be found hanging from a mango tree
The incident was reported at the Iseyin Police Division and after due consultation with the community leaders, the remains were brought down from the Mango tree.
Efforts to speak with the herbalist, simply known as Baba Fali of Ologede compound did not yield much result as he said the deceased was brought to him for treatment over a year ago and had been responding positively. he also added that that the deceased absconded from his house only to be found hanging on the tree.
