The deadly sect struck around Sharada area of Kano in a daring daylight attack on a police station. Residents said gunfight between sect members and soldiers continued till early evening. The situation created panic as residents ran for safety.
There was no reports of casualties. Government officials stated that the 6am-6pm curfew is still in force in the state, the curfew was imposed following several bomb explosions that rocked the state late January.
Sources within the sect said they are going through significant rift in Kano following the sweeping attacks that killed some 200 people, most of whom are Muslims
