Hospital officials in Italy have said a footballer who collapsed on the pitch today has died after a cardiac arrest.The Livorno midfielder Piermario Morosini was playing against Pescara in a Serie B game when he fell to the ground.Witnesses have said Morosini, 25, looked confused as he tried to get back up but then collapsed again.
A doctor told Italian media: "He suffered a cardiac arrest. Unfortunately he was already dead when the ambulance arrived. He never regained consciousness."Morosini's death has prompted the Italian federation to call off all league games for the rest of the weekend
