A gun battle between militants and the Joint Task Force in Kano left a German engineer dead. He was kidnapped four months ago in Kano state.
The handcuffed body of Edgar Fritz Raupach was recovered after the battle and reports from the scene describe him as gruesomely murdered. Five Boko Haram operatives and four militants were also killed in the raid.
