Lagos State Begins Repair of Third Mainland Bridge


The Lagos State government has started preliminary repair work on the 11 kilometer 3rd Mainland Bridge, ahead of commencement of the general repair work scheduled for July 1.
The state's Commissioner for Works, Hamzat Kadiri,  said"the bridge is not going to be shut down totally as been insinuated by members of the public. The repair work is for the safety of the bridge, to prolong its life span so that it doesn't fail when least expected. Preliminary work has started on the bridge already while general work will start on July 1. The work will be carried out in two phase," he said.
The ministry of transportation has picked some routes as possible link roads to and from the Island.The routes will be heavily manned by members of the Nigerian police and LASTMA officials.
Motorists are to exercise patience with the authorities during the period
